Our First Talk About Boys

Imogene: Mom, I'm a girl.

Mom: Yes, you are.

Imogene: I'm a girl and I like flowers. And I like boys.

Mom: Since when do you like boys?

Imogene: I like flowers, too.

Mom: Yeah. But let's get back to these boys. You like them?

Imogene: Yeah. I like boys. I like it when they are nice to me.

Mom: Um. Okay.

Imogene: But sometimes boys are mean. I don't like that. I like it when they are nice.

Mom: Well, let's talk about those flowers now.

Habitat

We have started preschool homeschool. In science, we are learning Zoology. (Mom note: We are using The Kingfisher Animal Encylopedia with The Well Trained Mind model for science.) Last week, our topic was Habitats. We went to the zoo to get a closer look at animal habitats. It was a lot of fun. As usual, I enjoyed seeing the lions and Imogene enjoyed seeing the pandas. We had read lots of library books about different animal habitats, so it was fun to see which ones the animals live in. We tried to find the food, water, and shelter in each animal habitat. We saw the otters and pandas being fed, so that was cool. We also got to play on the zoo playground, which is really the highlight of the zoo trip. One of these days Mom needs to let us go to the zoo just to play. Daddy got to come to the zoo with us, too! - Aidan

Reading

We have started preschool. Yeah, we know most kids are getting OUT of school, but we are ready! We have been working on science- zoology! And we've begun our reading book. (Mom note: We are using The Ordinary Parent's Guide To Teaching Reading by Jessie Wise.) We love our lessons, but they are short. We begged Mom for more. She wouldn't do more than one lesson a day, but she was happy to give us more work on our daily lesson. What extra work? Well, we make alphabet pillows. Mom says I will have a collection of 26 by the time we are done. That seems like an awful lot, but Mom knows her letters. We love making these pillows with Mom. She lets us "shop" her fabric scraps for pieces of fabric to make our letters. Then she shows us how she pins and cuts out the pattern. Then we take turns sitting with Mom while she sews them. While she sews, we practice our letter rhymes and repeat the alphabet for her. We also talk about all the words we can think of that begin with the letter we are making. It is lots of fun! Aidan loves his pillows so much, he takes them everywhere! We'll be reading before you know it! - Imogene

Princesses

I got a box of princess costumes for my birthday! I make a lovely princess. I needed a princess friend, so I dressed up my brother. He is a pretty princess like me! He just doesn't follow princess rules very well. He won't have a tea party with me. He wants to play princess ball, or princess cars. I tried to tell him princesses don't do those things. He just doesn't play right sometimes! - Imogene

Fun Facts

Since I do not have a camera to share photos of the kids and the things we do, I figured I'd give fun facts. So look forward to reading a few fun facts about the littles. - Lindsey

My favorite song is "Oh For A Thousand Tongues To Sing." Every time I hear it, I smile and quietly listen. It is soothing. - Emery

My favorite shape is a heart. Shapes are important and we all need a favorite. - Imogene

I like wearing sandals. I like to see my toes with my shoes on. - Aidan

Daddy is 29!

We just wanted to say "Happy Birthday" to our favorite boy, Daddy. He is our hero. He is our dapper man. We love him very, very much! We are very glad to be celebrating his birthday with him! - Imogene, Aidan, and Emery

Not A Baby!

I informed Mom the other day that I am not a baby! (She won't change the name of the blog, though.) I am going to be four years old very, very soon! I'm a big girl now!
I've been trying to talk Mommy into a birthday party. She said she isn't sure yet. (She said she isn't sure if she wants to worry with three parties this summer.) Maybe we'll go to the zoo instead! I just love the zoo.
Mommy thought you might like a link to our Amazon book wishlist and my Kaboodle wishlist again- in case you need it. I don't really need any toys. Between me and the boys, we've got a lot of toys. I love reading. I love getting new books! I pour through them and make Mommy read them again and again. I love art, but markers are now banned from our house- well, that is what Daddy said after Aidan colored on the wall, the play kitchen, the chair, and a bunch of other stuff. (Daddy was so mad!) I don't really need clothes. Mommy makes most of mine for me. I love handmade clothes! I love accessories- hair bows, head bands, fancy pigtail holders, bags, hats, etc. My favorite colors are yellow and pink, now. I love tea parties! I love being fancy.
Amazon Book Wish List- a list of 100 books that I (and my brothers) would like but don't have yet.
My Kaboodle Wish List- a list of things I like.
